The Naturepedic Verse Organic Kids mattress features firm support ideal for your growing child, along with several thick layers of organic cotton batting and organic wool that provide cushioning for the mattress' main support unit: an encased coil layers. The whole thing is held well together without any glues or adhesives.

First layer: A soft PLA quilt. The PLA is a fiber made from non-GMO sugarcane, and is entirely plant-based.

Second layer: A 1" comfort layer of organic cotton foam which adds some padding above the coils layer, making the mattress less springy and softer and preventing the sleeper from feeling the coils.

Third layer: A 7" layer of individually encased steel coils serves as the main support unit of the mattress, giving it its firm feel that's important for the healthy development of children.

Fourth layer: This layer is similar to the second layer, and is made entirely of organic cotton batting. It serves as a partition that hold the base of the mattress inn place and enforces the coils against the foundation of the bed.

The only difference between the two is that the 2" version has no underbed room, while the 7" version does. The foundations can be easily assembled in minutes with no tools. First, you need to lay out the wooden pieces of the foundation, with the velcro side up. Then, you need to insert the dowel rods into the corresponding holes within the frame and secure the latches. The last thing you need to do is to simply unroll slats along the top of the foundation and use the velcro to secure them in place.

Additional Details

The Naturepedic Verse Organic kids mattress is certifiably vegan. As stated before, it can also support the weight of a full grown adult, though each model of the mattress has its limits. The twin versions of the mattress have a 325 pound weight limit, the full version has a 450 pounds limit, and the queen version has a 550 pounds limit. The mattress won't break if you overburden it, but doing so will damage it over time by deforming the coils.
