Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling Video Review

Mattress Construction

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling is comprised of 6 layers of foam and coils to provide sleepers with responsive contouring together with firm support. The mattress combines special materials designed to increase airflow and, thus, prevent heat retention. The three firmness models are distinguished from one another by the density of their foam layers.

The layers of the Brooklyn Aurora Luxe

Pillow Top (optional): The mattress can be bought with a 2'' memory foam-based pillow top for extra body contouring.

Cover: Breathable GlacioTex™ fibers which release excess heat giving sleepers a cooler feel at the point where their body meets the mattress.

Layer 1: This 1.5'' comfort layer consists of patented CopperFlex Foam characterized by responsive, contouring and antimicrobial qualities. This foam contains phase change materials which facilitate airflow and assist in respiration evaporation.

Layer 2: 2'' TitanFlex poly foam, which conforms to the body while remaining elastic and bouncy relieving pressure.

Layer 3: The mattress' transition layer is constructed from 1'' of soft body-contouring visco-elastic gel memory foam aimed at countering the firmness of the coils below.

Layer 4: This is the mattress' core. It consists of more than one thousand 8'' individually encased coils, which provide pressure relief as well as strong support to the upper foam layers necessary for curtailing over-sinking and keeping sleepers' spine properly aligned. The coils also enable air to flow more freely creating an additional cooling effect.

Layer 5: 0.75'' of high-density foam designed to give the mattress additional support and increase its durability.

Feel

Three layers of elastic and malleable memory foam and pocketed coils at the core make the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling both conforming and responsive enhancing sleepers' comfort.

The soft model is more sinkable giving a pleasant melting-into-the bed sensation. The Firm model is highly supportive minimizing sagging and keeping sleepers stable on the mattress. The medium firmness model provides an equilibrium of contouring and support.

Pressure Relief

The Brooklynn Bedding Aurora Luxe is among the better mattresses for those sleeping on their side. With lightweight side sleepers the mattress will wrap their hips and shoulders preventing pressure. Their average and, especially, heavyweight counterparts will need a mattress which is still contouring yet supportive enough to keep their spine in its natural position. The medium firmness model will provide them with what they need.

Back sleepers who weigh up to 250 pounds will prefer the mattress' medium firmness model. The flexible foam in the 1st and 2nd layers will pad their lower and middle back. The soft memory foam in the 3rd layer will mitigate pressure. The coils will generate lift enabling these sleepers to maintain a healthy position throughout the night.

Back sleepers whose weight exceeds 250 pounds are more prone to sinkage. They'll require a mattress capable of supporting their more massive body. The Aurora Luxe Cooling's firm model is a viable solution for them. Despite being sturdy, its multiple layers of supple and soft foam will make sure they'll feel comfortable and won't suffer from excess pressure throughout the night.

Lying on the soft model of the Aurora Luxe Cooling, light and average weight stomach sleepers will experience excess sagging in their abdomen. On the other hand, they'll get along fine with the medium firmness model. The elastic foam in the 1st and 2nd layers will cushion and lift their waists and hips. The contouring memory foam in the 3rd layer will alleviate pressure in these areas while the coils will generate the support necessary for keeping their spine properly positioned

Plus-size stomach sleepers will feel comfortable on the firm model. It'll provide the necessary support to avert over sagging below their rib cage making sure their spine remains in its natural alignment.

Motion Isolation

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling's soft model isolates motion better than the medium firmness model, and the latter isolates motion better than the firm model.

Generally speaking, the mattress as a whole has mediocre capacity for motion isolation. The 3rd layer of sinkable and contouring memory foam can absorb the kinetic energy generated by sleepers' movements quite well, but the two other layers of more elastic and responsive foam don't perform as well as it does. In addition, the coils, despite being individually wrapped, transfer motion when they're compressed.

The bottom line is that most sleepers will enjoy quiet and peaceful nights lying on Aurora Luxe Cooling. However, if you have a partner who tends to moves a lot at night and/or you're a restless sleeper, an all-foam mattress, which is better equipped for isolating motion, may be a better choice for you.

Repositioning

In contrast to motion isolation, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling performs well when it comes to repositioning. The two upper layers of flexible and responsive foam don't hamper sleepers ability to maneuver on the surface of the mattress. The sinkage caused by the memory foam in the 3rd layer is easily countered by the coil system, which generates lift enabling sleepers to change their positions without exerting too much effort.

Naturally, sleepers will most easily reposition themselves lying on the Aurora Luxe Cooling's firm model since it's less sinkable than the other two firmness models.

Edge Support

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling's 1st and 2nd responsive foam layers help to lessen edge collapse. The coil system helps to keep the perimeter of the mattress more stable than the center enabling sleepers to lie away from the center and still feel secure.

Having said that, the edges of the soft and medium firmness models may not provide enough support for XL sleepers. These sleepers will be much better supported by the firm model.

Heat Retention

Temperature control is undoubtedly the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling's forte. The breathable fibers in the mattress cover wick away warm air and moisture. The phase change materials in the 1st layer absorb and release a large amount of thermal energy preventing over heating. The gel in the memory foam in the 3rd layer disperses heat trapped as a result of sinkage distributing it more evenly across the mattress surface. Finally, the coils promote unrestricted airflow enhancing the mattress' cooling capacity. To make a long story short, the Aurora Luxe Cooling is an excellent mattress for hot sleepers or for those who live in hot and humid areas.
