Mattress Construction

The Puffy Lux is a 12'' hybrid mattress. It has a polyester cover and 4 layers comprised of memory foam and poly foam. In between these layers, there is a coil system. All in all, this combination of different types of foam and coils gives it a medium feel.

Cover: Hypoallergenic, breathable and stain resistant polyester fabric. The cover can be unzipped, removed and washed making it easy to keep the mattress clean.

Primary comfort Layer: 1.5'' of malleable gel-infused Cooling Cloud memory foam contouring sleepers' body.

Secondary Comfort Layer: 1.5'' of low density and highly conforming Dual Cloud poly foam providing extra pressure relief.

Transition Layer: 2" of medium density Climate Comfort poly foam. The foam is aerated wicking away moisture and warm air.

Support Layer: 6'' individually encased coils generating lift and curbing excess sinkage.

Base Layer: 1'' of high density poly foam supporting the coils as they compress and adding durability to the mattress. The foam also envelops the perimeter of the coil system reinforcing the mattress' edges.

Grip Base Cover: Hardened fabric, which keeps the mattress immobile and stable on any surface.

Feel

The Puffy Lux's soft and breathable polyester fabric has a smooth and gentle feel. It keeps the surface of the mattress dry and cool even after a full night's sleep.

The two comfort layers of contouring memory foam and low density poly foam deeply cradle the body making the mattress cozy and enhancing comfort. The medium density poly foam in the transition layer counters the sinkage resulting from lying on the soft foam layers above preventing a quicksand effect. The coils, on their part, generate lift and further reduce sinkage making sleepers feel stable on the mattress.

Pressure Relief

The Puffy Lux works well for side sleepers of all weights. Its two comfort layers of slow responding memory foam and soft poly foam will mold to their body relieving pressure in their sensitive hips and shoulders. At the same time, the medium density poly foam will elevate these sensitive areas making sure sleepers' spine remains straight. The coils will support the heavier sleepers weighing more than 250 pounds by keeping them from plunging too deeply into the mattress.

The Lux also fits light and average weight back sleepers. The contouring memory foam and low density poly foam in the two upper layers will target their lumbar and thoracic back mitigating pressure. The medium density poly foam in the transition layer together with the coils will curb sinking preventing their spine from being thrown out of its natural alignment.

XL back sleepers whose weight exceeds 250 pounds won't be supported enough by the Lux. Their low back will sink too much causing discomfort and even pain after prolonged sleep. They'll require a more robust mattress which can better cope with their massive body. 

Stomach sleepers weighing up to 150 pounds will like the Lux. Its soft and plush comfort layers will cushion their abdomen averting pressure in the low section of their spine. The transition layer and the coils layer are more than enough to make them feel stable on the mattress.

In contrast, lying on the Lux, average and, especially, heavyweight stomach sleepers will experience over-sagging in the area under their rib cage resulting in an uncomfortable and unhealthy sleep posture. Similar to heavyweight back sleepers, they should opt for mattresses designed for plus-size people.

Motion Isolation

The Puffy Lux does a wonderful job isolating motion. 3'' of malleable memory foam and low density poly foam in its two comfort layers absorb a large portion of the energy generated by sleepers' movements. The coils are individually wrapped, which significantly reduces their capacity for motion transfer. To make a long story short, lying on the Lux, you'll enjoy quiet and peaceful nights even if your partner tends to sleep restlessly. 

Repositioning

Repositioning is the Puffy Lux's weak point. The coils generate lift and create bounce, which is meant to enable ease of movement. However, the two comfort layers of slow responding memory foam and soft poly foam create too much sinkage which trap sleepers in bed and hamper their mobility. Lightweight sleepers won't have much of a problem, but the heavier sleepers get, the more effort they'll need to exert to maneuver on the surface of the mattress.

Edge support

The Puffy Lux has excellent edge support. The coils do their part by generating lift keeping the exterior of the mattress highly stable. The 1'' high density poly foam in the base layer, which envelops the coils perimeter, further reinforces the exterior increasing its capacity to resist sagging.

Practically speaking, the Lux's strengthened edges enable sleepers to to lie away from the center without being afraid of falling out of bed and, thus, increase their potential sleep surface.

Heat Retention

Heat Retention is usually the Achilles heal of foam mattresses. Being more contouring than latex, foam tends to trap heat. For this reason, the designers of the Puffy Lux did their best to improve its ability to regulate temperature.

As mentioned above, the mattress' breathable polyester cover fabric keeps the surface cool and dry. The gel infused in the Cooling Cloud memory foam in the primary comfort layer disperses thermal energy preventing the accumulation of hot spots. The Puffy Bed Frame is an easy to assemble wooden slat bed covered with a grey soft cloth. It has a padded headboard meant for sleepers who want to watch TV or read in bed. Like the Puffy Foundation, it's shipped for free and sold with a 101-night trial and a lifetime warranty. Its prices range from $899 for a Full mattress and $1,099 for a California King mattress. The frame isn't designed for Twin and Twin XL sizes.

Shipping and Delivery

The Puffy Lux will be delivered to your doorstep wrapped in plastic, rolled and compressed in a box in 2-5 business days. You'll be required to carry the box to your bedroom, unpack it and set up the mattress by yourself as the company doesn't offer white glove delivery. The mattress is shipped for free to any destination in the United States. That includes Hawaii and Alaska.

Returns & Warranty

The Puffy Lux comes with a 101-night trial and a break in period of 14 nights. What it means is that you can return the mattress and expect to get a full refund 14 nights after it'd been delivered to you and no later than 101 nights. Returned mattresses are donated to charity. Customers living in Alaska and Hawaii will be liable for shipping costs upon returning the mattress.

The Puffy Lux is backed by a lifetime warranty. The warranty extends to the original buyer only. It covers a) indentation on the surface of the mattress greater than 1.5'' on condition that they haven't been caused by improper use, b) manufacturing defects in the cover zipper not including breakage and c) flaws in the cover, such as fabric tearing or stitching unraveling, which aren't the result of ill-treating the mattress.

The warranty doesn't cover a) deterioration of the mattress resulting from normal wear and tear, b) accidental damage (e.g. stains, tears and burning marks) or damaged caused by children, animals or rodents, c) changing firmness preferences, d) natural aromas and e) allergies or sensitivities to the mattress' materials.

The warranty may be annulled if the mattress wasn't purchased from Puffy or from one of its authorized distributors, if the mattress is neglected or abused and if it's put on an unsuitable or inadequately supportive foundation.
