Mattress Construction

The Nectar Premier Copper is constructed and layered in such a way as to give you maximum comfort while wicking a great deal of heat away from your body.

Top Cover Layer: Like with the Nectar Premier, the top cover here is a soft quilt made out of breathable poly-blend memory foam. Unlike the regular Premier mattress, though, the Copper's cover layer features heat-conductive copper fibers that are woven throughout it, hence its name. These do a great deal to provide heat wicking to the mattress, and keep the cover cool to the touch.

Layer 1: 4" thick slow-responding memory foam provides another layer of heat wicking and cooling. Its gel-infused and phase-shaping material slowly forms to your body to gently caress you, while allowing enough of your body's surface area to disperse heat.

Layer 2: A transitionary 1" layer of moderately soft pliable foam that basically serves to separate the aforementioned memory foam layer from the high-density foam layer underneath it. It increases the mattress' body contouring capacity to enhance its lumbar support capabilities by providing additional sinkage.

Layer 3: a 7" layer of concentrated high-density polyurethan foam provide the mattress with a sturdy and comfortable base, and thus with its stability and durability. This bottom foam layer is both large and thick enough to support its sleepers, no matter their weight.

Bottom Cover Layer: This is a shift-resistant lower cover that serves to protect the underside of the mattress and prevent it from sliding on the foundation (or floor, although you are advised to place this luxury mattress on a foundation before sleeping on it).

Feel

The Nectar Premier Copper has a medium-firm feel with high cushioning depth and moderate responsiveness. It has a surface firmness that will prevent any bouncing on top of it (sorry children), and, once you lay on top of it, you will slowly and comfortably sink into it until your whole body is cradled by the mattress. This sinking won't make you feel like you've been swallowed by a bean bag, but it also won't make you feel like you're sleeping entirely on top of the mattress.

Pressure Relief

The Copper mattress' pressure relief qualities are quite unbelievable for a foam mattress, especially for heavier people who tend to need a specialized hybrid mattress to really be comfortable. This mattress was designed every step of the way with pressure relief and comfort in mind, and it shows. It hugs your curves and supports your entire body evenly, letting the pointier parts of your body sink in for optimal lumbar alignment.

Motion Isolation

You're not going to get better motion isolation on a foam mattress. It feels like every square inch of it belongs to another bed altogether. If you're sleeping next to a restless partner, you'll find this quality a godsend.

Repositioning

Since the Premier Copper has slow sinking properties and moderate responsiveness, moving on top of it isn't an issue, but it's also not entirely effortless. Better for people who mainly use their bed for sleep rather than other, more laborious activities. This is the mattress' biggest (and only) shortcoming. Well, aside from its price, of course.

Edge Support

Foam mattresses usually lack good good edge support, but the Nectar Premier surprises yet again by featuring good support around its perimeter. You will be fully supported by the mattress even if you sleep on the very edge of it, and you won't feel like you're falling off even if you sit at the edge of it.

Heat Retention

This is by far the biggest selling point of the Nectar Premier Copper. It has so many cooling technologies built into it that it would have been honestly surprising if it didn't score a perfect 10 in this regard. It does. To the surprise of no one. For a mattress specifically designed to provide a cool sleep for people who suffer from sleeping hot, it definitely delivers.

Frame & Foundation

The Nectar Premier Copper is designed according to industry standards when it comes to its size and height, so it will fit on most foundations available out there. That, fortunately, also includes adjustable ones.

If you don't already own a base, you can purchase one from the Nectar online store that is made of solid pine for $400. If you prefer an adjustable base, you can get one with reclining head and feet portions, massaging capabilities and even USB plugs for easy charging for $999.

While the Nectar Premier is fully intended to be used on an adjustable foundation, it's fairly thick and firm for a foam mattress, and starts off a bit rigid. If you put it straight away out of its box on such a base, it could seem too rigid for it as the base reclines, and it may bow slightly. That quickly changes over time, though, as the mattress becomes soft enough for it with a bit of use use.

Additional Details

The Nectar Premier Copper is made in China. It's constructed almost entirely out of polyurethane foam, which is petroleum based, and does off-gas a bit. You're advised to let the mattress unfold and decompress in a well ventilated area for a day after receiving it.

If the off-gassing is worrying you, do note that all foams used by Nectar meet CertiPUR-US standards for content, emissions, and durability, and are analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories, so you can be sure that none of them are harmful. The reason you should let it off-gas in an open room is simply because most people find the factory smell of the mattress (created from packaging it in a vacuum) somewhat unpleasant, and that way it doesn't linger for more than a day or so.

Shipping & Delivery

Nectar offers free mattress delivery directly to your doorstep. Shipping is only available to the contiguous United States, so it won't be available to you if you live in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, etc. Nectar also ships to Alaska and Hawaii for an additional $150 per large item ordered (this fee is non-refundable in case you're considering trying the mattress out). Moving the mattress inside your house is, however, up to you. It's fairly heavy, so you may need some help moving it to the bedroom.

If that sounds like too much trouble, you can opt for Nectar’s White Glove Delivery, in which they deliver your mattress, set it up in your bedroom, and take away your old mattress if you request them to. This service costs $149, and is also non-refundable.

Once it's delivered, the Nectar Premier Copper should be unpacked and unrolled. Do not let it sit in its box for more than a few days, as it may damage it. Once it is unfolded, the mattress will slowly take shape and will be ready to use within 24 hours.

Returns & Warranty

Nectar mattresses come with a 365 night trial. You can return the mattresses for a full refund within this time, as long as you've used it for at least 30 days. This is Nectar's way of making sure you know how it feels after it softens up and your body becomes used to it.

Fees for shipping or white glove services are not refunded, though, and neither are state-based recycling fees (if there are any in your state). Refunds will always be issued in the form of the original payment, so if any coupon codes were used they will not be refunded. If you purchased any additional products, such as sheets or a foundation, those need to be returned separately and according to their own return policy (the return policies for Nectar's non-mattress products are just as great, thankfully).

In addition to this, Nectar mattresses come with a lifetime warranty. That means that as long as you take care of your mattress, you'll never need to purchase a new one. For example, if the mattress ever naturally develops a sag or a visible impression deeper than, say, an inch and a half, you can return the mattress and receive a replacement. You may also obviously return it if there is any manufacturing issue with it, or if the mattress becomes generally worn down over time, as long as it occurred naturally with use. The first replacement is free, but, after the first replacement, you will be requested to pay $100 for shipping and handling fees., which is more than fair for what you get (a free new mattress).

The lifetime warranty does not, however, cover what Nectar considers to be misuse or neglect. This is covered on their official site, but you probably wouldn't need to read them to know them. For instance, burns, spills, stains, or violation of instruction of proper use of the mattress are all covered by Nectar to void warranty.

The Bottom Line

This mattress is an absolute landmark for Nectar. It one of the most high-quality luxury mattresses available today, and can give a sound sleep to even the most restless sleepers. The fact that they figured out a way to package and send you such a thing is miraculous.

The Copper is great no matter what sleeping position you prefer, and no matter how much you weigh (though it wasn't extensively tested for people weighing more than 350 lb.)
