Mattress Construction

The Vaya consists of a cover and two layers of poly foam at different density level. The designers have deliberately chosen poly foam over memory foam to reduce heat retention and give the mattress more bounce.

Cover: Soft and breathable polyester-based fabric facilitating moisture wicking, which helps cool the mattress.

Comfort Layer: 3'' of low density malleable poly foam which deeply contours the body alleviating pressure and enhancing comfort. The foam has an open-cell structure which reduces heat accumulation.

Support Layer: 9'' of high density poly foam generating lift, curbing over-sinking and providing the mattress with an overall support. This foam is also manufactured using open-cell technology for better cooling.

Feel

The Vaya's soft cover gives a plush and gentle feel. Its breathability keeps the surface of the mattress cool and dry.

The foam in the comfort layer conforms to the body providing a cozy cuddling sensation. It's more responsive than memory foam, which means it snaps back into place faster, so side by side with its contouring qualities, it also delivers moderate bounce preventing sleepers from being stuck in the mattress. 

Lastly, the 9'' dense foam in the support layer elevates sleepers' body enabling them to feel highly stable lying on the mattress.

Pressure Relief

The Vaya is a great fit for side sleepers of all weights. The 3'' soft foam in the comfort layer will contour their body and distribute their weight more evenly across the mattress preventing the accumulation of pressure in sensitive areas, the hips and shoulders in particular. The lift generated by the dense foam in the support layer below will help these sleepers maintain a healthy sleep position.

Back sleepers who weigh up to 250 pounds will sleep comfortably on the Vaya. The combination of contouring and moderate bounce provided by the comfort layer plus the strong support delivered by the denser foam in the layer below is exactly what their spine needs to remain properly aligned.

Heavyweight back sleepers won't be supported enough by the mattress and may experience sagging, which will put a strain on their thoracic and lumber spines resulting in discomfort and pain. They'll need a firmer mattress for plus-size people.

The Vaya works well for lightweight stomach sleepers. The soft comfort layer will cushion their abdomen mitigating pressure in their lumber back. The support layer will keep them stable on the mattress.

Stomach sleepers who weigh more than 150 pounds, especially those whose weight crosses the 250 pounds threshold, will sink too much into the mattress. Motion Isolation

As can be expected from an-all foam mattress, the Vaya does a great job isolating motion. The thick body conforming foam in the comfort layer can absorbs most of the energy created by sleepers' movements keeping it on their side of the mattress without disturbing their partner. This is highly important especially if one of the sleepers frequently changes his/her sleeping positions at night.

Repositioning

Compared to other all-foam mattress, the Vaya enables sleepers to move more easily on its surface. The poly foam it's built from is more responsive than memory foam and generates less sinking. As a result, sleepers won't be heavily stuck in the mattress and will be able to change their sleeping positions with less effort.

Having said that, heavyweight sleepers may find it a bit more challenging to maneuver on the mattress' surface. They'll need a firmer and more bouncy mattress, preferably with coils.

Edge Support

The Vaya's edge support is its weakest point. The thick and soft comfort layer generates too much sagging for sleepers lying close to the perimeter. The support layer below isn't firm and bouncy enough to make the edges more stable.

Lightweight sleepers won't have a problem sleeping close to the mattress' edge, but heavier ones may feel insecure and will tend to move towards the center reducing their potential sleep surface.

Heat Retention

Although it's doesn't perform as well as hybrid or innerspring mattresses, the Vaya scores high in its ability to regulate temperature. Its breathable cover effectively wicks away moisture. In addition, thanks to its open-cell structure, the mattress' poly foam creates pockets when it's compressed. These pockets allow air to flow freely in and out of the mattress preventing over-heating.

All in all, the Vaya is a good choice for sleepers who enjoy the feel of foam while at the same time seek a mattress which will keep them cool at night.

Vaya's main offices are located in Arizona. This is also where it manufactures all its products. These products include only two mattresses (The Vaya all-foam and the Vaya Hybrid), a pillow and a platform bed discussed above.

Shipping and Delivery

You can expect to get the Vaya in 10-15 business days from the moment you placed your order. The mattress will arrive at your doorstep wrapped in plastic, rolled and compressed in a 19'' * 19" * 42.5'' box. You'll have to carry the box to your chosen room, unpack it and set up the mattress. The company doesn't provide white glove delivery.

Shipping to any destination within the 48 contiguous US states is offered for free. There is no shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada.

Return & Warranty

The Vaya comes with a 100-night trial and a break in period of 30 nights. What is practically means is that you can return the mattress and get a full refund 30 nights after you slept on it and no later than 100 nights. If you return the mattress within the 30-night break in period, you'll be charged a processing fee of $99.

The mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty. The warranty extends to the original buyer only and provides full replacement (the customer may be charged for labor and shipping) in cases of defects in materials and manufacturing including impressions on the surface of the mattress deeper than 1''.
