Mattress Construction

The Twilight consists of three layers of foam at different density levels. These layers are supplemented by system of pocketed steel coils. The mattress come in two thickness versions of 10'' and 12''. Both versions have the same construction.

The layers of the Sweet Night Twilight

Cover: Soft and breathable cotton knit fabric wicking heat away.

Pillow Top: Malleable polyurethane foam providing deep cushioning.

Comfort Layer: Body-conforming gel memory foam. The gel disperses heat assisting in regulating the mattress' temperature.

Transition layer: Highly dense poly foam separating the soft foam above from the coils below and adding durability to the mattress. The foam is ventilated reducing heat retention.

Support Layer: Individually wrapped steel coils generating lift and bounce curbing sinking.

Feel

The Twilight's soft and breathable cotton knit cover gives a smooth and fresh feel. It keeps the surface of the mattress cool and dry.

The two upper layers of contouring foam enables deep and cozy sinking. The gel memory foam, in particular, responds slowly to pressure wrapping the body and creating a melting-into-the-bed sensation.

The dense poly foam in the transition layer below effectively counters this sinking preventing sleepers from being stuck in the mattress. The bounce provided by the coils in the support layer elevates the body making sleepers feel stable on the mattress.

All in all, the two upper layers of cushy foam, the dense poly foam below them and the coil system put together give the mattress a medium firm feel.

Pressure Relief

Lightweight side sleepers require a soft mattress to cushion the sensitive areas in their body, the hips and shoulders in particular. Despite the Twilight's conforming foam in the pillow top and the comfort layer, the hardened poly foam in the transition layer and the bouncy coils below create a sleep environment which is too stiff and not contouring enough to mitigate pressure in these sensitive areas. Therefore, sleepers will experience discomfort, which may turn into pain after prolonged sleep.

Average and even heavyweight side sleepers will benefit from the sound balance of contouring and support the Twilight offers. The malleable foam in the pillow top and the comfort layer will enable them pressure reliving sinkage while the denser poly foam in the transition layer and the coils underneath will ensure that this sinkage won't be excessive to the extent of throwing their spine out of its natural alignment.

The Twilight is a great fit for back sleepers of all weights. These sleepers usually require a mattress that is solid enough to support their lower back. On the one hand, The twilight's two upper layer of body conforming foam will wrap their lumbar spine reducing pressure and soothing the muscles. On the other hand, the firmer transition layers and the coils will generate enough lift the prevent over-sinking allowing these sleepers to maintain a healthy position while lying on the mattress.

Like their back sleeper counterparts, stomach sleeper require a mattress firm enough to lift their abdomen area. The Twilight will do a great job in this regard while cushioning that area with its soft and slow responding foam in the pillow top and comfort layer.

Heavier stomach sleepers, especially those whose weight is close to or more than 300 pounds, will need a mattress firmer than the Twilight to avoid excess sinking and the accumulation of pressure as a result of such sinking. They should opt for a mattress built for plus-size people.

Motion Isolation

The Twilight isolates motion well. The cushy polyurethane foam in the pillow top and the slow responding memory foam in the comfort layer absorb a large portion of the kinetic energy sleepers' movements generate.

In addition, even though the coils transfer some of the motion which wasn't isolated by the soft foam in the upper layers, because they're are individually wrapped, they transfer much less motion compared to traditional innerspring systems.

To make a long story short, unless your partner is a restless sleepers or you're a light sleeper, the Twilight will enable you peaceful and quiet nights.

Repositioning

The malleable foam in the Twilight's two upper layers hinders movement. Yet the dense foam in the transitional layer elevates sleepers' body while the coils deliver improved bounce. Both prevent sleepers from being stuck in bed and enable them to maneuver on the surface of the mattress quite easily.

Sleepers heavier than 250 pounds will tend to sink more, and this may hamper their ability to change their sleeping positions. However, thanks to the Twilight's improved support, they'll need to exert less effort to reposition themselves compared to most foam and coils hybrid mattresses sold by competing companies.

Edge Support

The sturdy poly foam and the coils in the Twilight's lower layers keep the mattress' perimeter well supported, so despite the sagging caused by the contouring foam in the upper layers, sleepers (the heavier ones are included) lying away from the center won't feel they're about to fall out of bed. The stable edges will enable them to utilize the entire sleeping space provided by the mattress.

Heat Retention

The Twilight scores high in its ability to regulate temperature. The breathable cotton knit cover facilitates moisture wicking. The gel in the memory foam disperses heat across the mattress. The ventilated poly foam below and the coils enable free circulation of air, which further increases the cooling effect.

Frame & Foundation

The Twilight works well with the majority of the foundations, frames and adjustable bases sold on the market on condition that they're robust enough to carry its weight. SweetNight offers its own Tranquil Frame.

The Tranquil is an adjustable base built from solid wood and aluminum. It offers 3 adjustment modes (with independent head incline of up to 60° and foot incline of up to 40°) and 3 preset positions, including TV, zero-gravity and memory. The base has a retainer bar, sensors on both sides, one side pocket, dual USB charging ports on both sides and LED lights under the bed.

The Tranquil can support up to 705 pounds. Its prices range from $647 for a Full size mattress to $1,088 for a Split King mattress. It comes with a 100-night trial and a 10-year warranty.

The mattress is backed by a 10-year limited warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials, impressions on the surface deeper than 1.5'' and physical flaws including splitting or cracking of the foam in spite of normal usage and proper handling.

The warranty doesn't cover the increase of softness of the foam, which is the result of natural wear-and-tear, and accidental damage, such as spills, stains, tears and burning marks. The warranty will be annulled in case the mattress is repaired by an unauthorized provider or personnel or disassembled by the customer and if the warranty card or purchasing invoice has been changed.

The Bottom Line

Buying the SweetNight Twilight, you'll get more and pay less. The mattress exhibits excellent performances in terms of pressure relief, support, motion isolation, ease of movement and temperature regulation. Its medium-firm firmness level makes it fit a wide range of sleepers regardless of their sleeping style and weight. Despite all these benefits, the Twilight is much cheaper compared to other companies' hybrid mattresses with similar characteristics.
