Mattress Construction

The Ocean Blue is 8'' thick and is available in three sizes only: Twin, Full and Queen. It consists of a cover fabric, two layers of foam and a coil system.

The layers of the SweetNight Ocean Blue

Cover: Plush cotton quilted fabric. The fabric is highly breathable facilitating moisture wicking.

Comfort Layer: Body-conforming gel-infused memory foam providing deep contouring. The gel assists in dispersing heat.

Transition Layer: Highly dense and responsive aerated poly foam separating the soft foam from the coils layer, reducing sinking, adding durability to the mattress and reducing heat retention.

Support Layer: Individually wrapped steel coils delivering bounce and support.

Feel

The soft cover of the Ocean Blue has a smooth and silk-like texture. Its breathability makes the surface of the mattress dry and cool to the touch.

The malleable memory foam in the comfort layer enables cozy sinkage, which wraps and relaxes the body. The dense poly foam in the transition layer curbs this sinkage keeping it moderate. The coil system below generates bounce lifting sleepers letting them feel they're 'on' the mattress instead of 'in' it.

All in all, the combination of contouring memory foam with dense poly foam and robust steel coils give the Ocean Blue a medium-firm feel.

Pressure Relief

Side sleepers under 250 pounds will find the Ocean Blue to be too firm for them. Its medium-firm firmness level won't provide them with the contouring they need to mitigate pressure in the sensitive areas in their body, the hips and shoulders in particular.

Heavyweight side sleepers, on the contrary, will highly appreciate the balance of contouring and support which characterizes the mattress. The body-conforming memory foam in the comfort layer will target their hips and shoulders. The dense poly foam and the coils below will prevent sagging in these areas and help them maintain a healthy sleeping position.

The Ocean Blue is too stiff for lightweight back sleeper. They may suffer from pressure and consequent pain in their lumbar back after lying on it for a couple of hours. Their average and heavyweight counterparts, on the other hand, will find the mattress to be highly comfortable. The memory foam in the comfort layer will envelop their lumbar and thoracic spine preventing the accumulation of pressure in these areas while the dense poly foam and the coils will curb sinking and elevate their heavy body keeping their back properly aligned

Stomach sleepers of all weights need a solid mattress capable of reducing sagging in their abdomen, which is vital for relieving pressure in their lumber back. The supportive Ocean Blue will be able to do that well enough while at same time, the mattress' soft memory foam layer will cushion the area under their rib cage enhancing their comfort.

Extremely overweight stomach sleepers who have surpassed 300 pounds might need a sleeping platform that is more robust than the Ocean Blue to curb excessive sinking. They're strongly recommended opting for mattresses specially built for plus-size people.

Motion Isolation

The Ocean Blue's ability to isolate motion is not superb, but it higher than the average. The soft memory foam-based comfort layer at the top of the mattress can absorb low-medium intensity movements quite well.

In contrast, high intensity sleepers' movements (like getting out of bed) won't be fully blocked by the comfort layer and will be transferred throughout the mattress by the responsive high density poly foam in the transition layers and the coils.

The coils are individually wrapped and so their capacity for motion transfer is lower compared to innerspring systems, yet that won't be enough to prevent them from transferring sleepers forceful movements.

Put differently, the Ocean Blue will enable most people quiet and peaceful nights unless they're light sleepers, who are disturbed by the slightest vibration generated by the mattress or unless their partner is a restless sleeper.

Repositioning

The Ocean Blue performs well when it comes to ease of movement. The sinkage generated by the comfort layer is effectively countered by the high density in the layer below making sure sleeper, even the heavier ones, won't be stuck in the mattress and will be able to change positions without exerting too much effort. The supportive bounce generated by the coils further increases sleepers' ability to maneuver on the mattress.

Edge Support

Sleepers lying close to the Ocean Blue's perimeter may experience a little sagging due to the softness of its top memory foam layer. Yet this sagging will hardly affect their sense of stability. The dense and responsive poly foam beneath, reinforced by the bounce and lift provided by the coils, solidifies the mattress' edges to the extent of enabling sleepers to lie away from the center without being afraid that they might fall out of bed.

Heat Retention

The Ocean Blue is designed to provide a cool sleeping environment and is, thus, a good choice for people who tend to sleep hot or live in hot and humid places. The breathable cover fabric facilitates moisture wicking. The ventilated poly foam in the transition layer and the coils enable free flow of air in and out of the mattress dissipating excess heat, which may be accumulated as a result of the sinkage caused by the contouring memory foam in the comfort layer.

Frame & Foundation

The Ocean Blue is compatible with almost all of the foundations, frames and adjustable bases available on the market on condition that they're firm enough to support its weight. SweetNight manufactures and sells its own Tranquil Frame.

The Tranquil is an adjustable base built from solid wood and aluminum. It offers 3 adjustment modes (with independent head incline of up to 60° and foot incline of up to 40°) and 3 preset positions, including TV, zero-gravity and memory. It includes a retainer bar, sensors on both sides, one side pocket, dual USB charging ports on both sides and LED lights under the bed.

The Tranquil can support a total weight of 705 pounds. It's prices range from $647 for a Full size mattress to $1,088 for a Split King mattress. The base comes with a 100-night trial and a 10-year warranty.

Similar to all other SweetNight's mattresses, the Ocean Blue is CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certified. This makes sure it doesn't contain ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants, formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals and any other substances which may endanger human health or cause damage to the environment. Equally important, the company is committed to reducing the emissions of volatile organic compounds in its manufacturing processes.

Shipping & Delivery

Returns & Warranty

The Ocean Blue comes with a 100-night trial and a break in period of 30 nights. Put differently, you can return the mattress and get a full refund after you slept on it for no less than 30 nights and no more than 100 nights.

The mattress is backed by a 10-year limited warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials, physical flaws, such as impressions on the surface deeper than 1.5'', and premature deterioration of the foam including splitting or cracking which occurred in spite of proper handling of the mattress.

The warranty doesn't cover accidental damage (e.g. spills, stains, tears and burning marks) and an increase in the softness of the foam caused by natural wear-and-tear. The warranty will be annulled if the mattress is repaired by an unauthorized provider or personnel or disassembled by the customer and if the warranty card or purchasing invoice has been changed.

The Bottom Line

The Ocean Blue is designed to deliver improved ergonomic spine support. The mattress' medium-firm feel might make it too stiff for lightweight side and back sleepers, but heavier sleepers of all types will like it very much as it will meet their basic needs in terms of bouncy support and contouring, ease of movement and temperature regulation.

What is more, the Ocean Blue is offered at a wallet friendly price allowing sleepers to benefit from a high-quality mattress while saving a lot of money.
