Leesa Hybrid Mattress Review
The Leesa Hybrid is an award-winning mattress that combines the benefits of premium foam with pocket springs for comfort and proper spinal alignment. It features a hole-punched top layer of foam that will help you sleep cool while providing optimal comfort in most sleeping positions, and is surprisingly cheap for its quality. The Leesa Hybrid is recommended for light sleepers due to its advanced motion isolation, as well as for back and stomach sleepers - especially heavyset ones.
Pros & Cons

- Strong edge support
- Sleeps cool
- No return fee
- Fantastic motion isolation
- Highly suited for heavy individuals
Cons

- Takes a while to off-gas after purchase
Mattress Construction
The Leesa Hybrid mattress is made up of 5 distinct layers made up of memory foam and springs for both body contouring, pressure-relief and bounce. The mattress doesn't contain many natural materials, but is CertiPUR-US certified, meaning that it is made with zero substances that are harmful to your or the environment, such as PBDE flame retardants or ozone depleters.
Cover Layer: White and gray cover made of foam and fabric gives the mattress a bit more cushion, and makes it feel softer while not affecting its general level of firmness. Silky-smooth, sturdy and stretchy, and can be easily separated from the mattress for washing if need be.
Layer 1: A 1.5" thick hole-punched premium foam top layer. This layer of latex-like polyurethane foam helps you sleep cool while contouring to your body to relieve pressure.
Layer 2: A 1.5" thick contouring memory memory foam layer. Helps further relieve pressure on your back, hips and shoulders.
Layer 3: A 1" thick core support foam layer, mainly used to bookend and protect the mattress' pocket coils layer.
Layer 4: A 6" pocket coils layer with perimeter edge support. Very sturdy and quite due to the individual pocket springs. The edge of this layer is made with smaller and more rigid coils designed to give the mattress a stronger edge.
Layer 5: Another 1" thick core support foam layer, mainly used to bookend and protect the mattress' pocket coils layer.
Feel
The Leesa Hybrid feels fairly firm and responsive, but doesn't feel hard due to its top foam layers. These layers help the mattress to better contour to your curves, but not overwhelmingly so. You won't feel "hugged" by this mattress or sink too much into it due to this.
For back and stomach sleepers, this is ideal, as it will help keeping your spine aligned and ease pressure off your shoulders and hips. For side sleepers, though, it will only feel comfortable if you're not very light, as your hips and shoulders won't sink enough to keep your spine optimally aligned. It will also be a problem for anyone who is very curvy, as those of you who are will notice that your curves don't sink enough into the mattress for your back to remain straight.
Pressure Relief
This mattress' pressure relief is excellent in any sleeping position, even when sleeping on your side. This is also true for heavyset individuals, which is very noteworthy, as anyone heavier than 250 lbs. may find it difficult to find mattresses that fully support their weight without feeling too hard and without them sinking too much into the mattress to feel comfortable.
Motion Isolation
The Leesa Hybrid mattress features fantastic motion isolation thanks to is responsive layer of large pocketed coils. If you're sleeping with a partner, you can rest easy knowing that they will barely feel your movements throughout the night. Great for anyone sleeping with partners who are light sleepers.
Repositioning
The top layers of the Leesa Hybrid are very responsive and bouncy, as are its coils layer. You won't have any issue repositioning during the night or moving on top of the bed.
Edge Support
One of the Leesa Hybrid's best features. This mattress was specifically designed with edge support in mind, so it doesn't matter where you're laying on the mattress, you will always feel supported. This gives the mattress a larger feel, and prevents you or anything else from easily falling off of it.
Heat Retention
The Leesa Hybrid is especially suited for people who sleep hot. Its top layer is hole-punched to improve air flow and cooling, and it's shallow cushioning does not fully hug and contour to your body, allowing for more of your body's surface area to be exposed to air and thus expel heat through your body's surface area, helping you better regulate your body temperature throughout the night.
On top of that, the mattress' pocketed coil layer has no foam encasement to trap heat, so is great at dispersing your body heat even further.
Frame & Foundation
When purchasing the mattress, you can also get a Leesa Foundation for $239-$399 (depending on the model) or a Leesa Platform Bed for $399-$699 (depending on the model). They are both slat-based, made with high-quality wood, beautifully upholstered with grey twill fabric, easy to assemble with no tools required, and perfectly fit the mattress.
You can also purchase a metal frame for the bed for $129-$149 (depending on the model), though these are not always in stock. These are made of high quality steel and fit all standard bed foundations.
Additional Details
Leesa is B-Corp Certified. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. As a company, it's practices are exemplary, and whenever you're purchasing something from them, this mattress included, you can rest assure that your satisfaction is put above their profit margins.
In addition to this, you also get 2 free down alternative (hypoallergenic) pillows with your mattress purchase (while supplies last). Taking this into account, and the fact that you can often get up to $400 off your purchase due to Leesa's plethora of sales and promotions throughout the year, the bang you get for your buck when purchasing from Leesa can be downright impressive.
Shipping & Delivery
The Leesa Hybrid is shipped for free. The mattress is compressed, sealed in plastic, and mailed via FedEx Ground directly to your doorstep within a week or two of placing an order. After you bring the box to your bedroom and remove the packaging, the bed will expand to its full size. You are advised to let the mattress off-gas for a bit, as it takes a few hours for the factory smell to evaporate.
For customers in Canada, Germany, and the UK, extra shipping charges apply. More information about delivery time and shipping charges to international addresses is available on the Leesa company website.
Returns & Warranty
Leesa provides a 10-year warranty for its mattresses. The warranty must also be claimed by the original purchaser of the mattress and proof of identification may be requested.
Replacing the mattress carries no extra fees. There is also a 3-5 year warranty on the bed foundation (depending on the model) you might purchase with your Leesa mattress. Damage to either that is caused by the purchaser (such as stains, rips, cuts or tears) will void the warranty.
Leesa's return policy is simple and easy to invoke. Customers have a 100 nights to test out their mattress, if they are unhappy they can request for it to be returned after 30 days of use. The 30 days of use is to allow your body ample time to adjust to the feel of a new mattress.
Once the return process is confirmed, Leesa organizes a courier service to come and take the mattress. Refunds can take up to 10 business days to be processed. Unless the mattress is damaged, customers are always eligible for full refunds, though purchasers in Alaska and Hawaii will be charged a $100 fee for mattress returns.
An Up-Close Look at The Leesa Hybrid
The Bottom Line
While it is a bit more expensive then the competition, the Leesa Hybrid is nonetheless a fantastic option for most. If you're heavier than most, sleep hot, or next to a light-sleeping partner, then this mattress will probably feel like it was designed with your specific needs in mind. Its mixture of high responsiveness, firmness and edge support make this mattress ideal for more intimate situations. If you like to sleep on your side and are either curvy or very light, though, it may not be the best choice for you.
The Leesa company itself is always a joy to do business with, and is as trustworthy and reliable as it can get. So, if you want a safe option, go with this one. You could always return the mattress if it doesn't ft you, and returning it won't even cost you anything.

No. The mattress is designed in such a way that the sleeper receives optimal support on one face of the bed. The mattress does not provide the benefits it's supposed to when flipped around.
