Mattress Construction

The Advanced Original is 12'' thick. It's built from five layers of specialized foam types fulfilling various functions from contouring your body and relieving pressure to delivering support and stability and adding durability to the mattress.

Cover: Plush soft fabric manufactured through state-of-the-art phase change technology enabling it to draw heat from sleepers' body cooling the mattress.

Layer 1: 1.5'' of Atlas PR Gel Memory Foam, which contours sleepers' body mitigating pressure. The gel increases the breathability of the foam facilitating moisture wicking.

Layer 2: 1.5'' of proprietary Cloud Memory Gel Foam. This super-soft foam provides the mattress with extra coziness and enhanced motion isolation. The gel infused into this foam also assists in cooling the mattress.

Layer 3: 1'' of medium-density OrtoFlex Foam, which supports the layers of soft foam above curbing excessive sagging.

Layer 4: 8'' of high-density Everlast Foam giving the mattress overall support and durability. It generates lift preventing sleepers from over-sinking and being trapped in the softer foam layers above.

Base: Non-skid fabric keeping the mattress in place by preventing sliding.

Feel

The plush and breathable cover fabric makes the surface of the Advanced Original smooth, silky and pleasantly cool.

Generally speaking, the mixture of soft and hardened foam layers, give the mattress a medium-firm firmness level. The two upper layers of highly contouring memory foam perfectly conforms to the body providing a cozy melting-into-the-bed sensation. At the same time, the medium and high density foam in the 3^rd and 4^th layers create a counter effect of lift and support providing sleepers with stability and preventing a "quicksand feel" as a result of excessive sinking.

Pressure Relief

The medium-firm firmness level makes the Advanced Original fit a wide range of sleeper types and weight.

Side sleepers of all weights will benefit from the ample pressure relief generated by the mattress' two upper layers of ultra-conforming memory foam. This foam will envelop their body, reducing pain in the hips, making the Hope Advanced Original a good mattress for those with hip pain. The hardened foam layers below will provide heavier sleepers with sufficient support to keep their spine properly aligned.

Back sleepers who weigh up to 250 pounds will also find the Advanced Original to be comfortable. The 3'' layers of soft foam will cradle their back mitigating pressure in the thoracic and lumbar spine while the 8'' dense Everlast Foam will lift their body and help them maintain healthy posture by curtailing sinking. 

Most back sleepers who weigh more than 250 pounds will get along fine with the mattress. It'll be able to deliver sufficient support despite their heavier weight. Some of the sleepers, especially those who weigh close to and more than 300 pounds, may need a more robust mattress designed for plus-size people.

The Advanced Original is a good choice for light and average weight stomach sleepers. The mattress' cushy foam will assist in alleviating pressure in the abdomen area while the harder foam below will lift this area preventing too much sagging, which may result in discomfort and pain in their lumbar back.

XL stomach sleepers will need a firmer mattress for heavier people, capable of coping with their increased weight and consequent over-sinking in their abdomen and lower back.

Motion Isolation

With no coils and only foam in its layers, you won't be disappointed with the Advance Original's capacity for isolating sleepers movements. The 3'' soft foam in the upper layers can easily absorb most of the kinetic energy generated by these movements and prevent it from spreading across the mattress. At the end of the day (or night in this case), you'll enjoy a deep and quiet sleep even if your partner tends to move a lot.

Repositioning

The medium and highly dense OrtoFlex and Everlast foam layers curb excessive sinking and allow sleepers to change positions without exerting too much effort even though the lack of coils makes the mattress less responsive.

Heavier sleepers, those who weigh more than 250 pounds in particular, will move less gracefully on the mattress, especially when it comes to more intensive repositioning or to getting out of bed.

Edge Support

Most sleepers will feel highly stable upon lying on the mattress' perimeter thanks to the sound support generated by the 1'' OrtoFlex Foam and 8'' Everlast foam. As in the case of repositioning, plus-size sleepers may be the exception to that. They'll have to cope with excessive sagging caused by the top two layers of soft foam. These heavier sleepers will have to migrate to the more stable central regions of the mattress reducing their potential sleep space.

Heat Retention

Like all of Hope mattresses, the Advanced Original is characterized by efficient temperature regulation. Its fabric cover is made of phase-change materials which draw heat away from sleepers' body and prevent the accumulation of hot spots on the surface of the mattress.

The gel in the different types of memory foam increases breathability facilitating moisture wicking and reducing heat retention. Finally, the coils enable free circulation of air in the mattress, which increases the cooling effect.

Practically speaking, the Advanced Original will provide you with a cool sleep environment even if you live in a hot and humid area.

Frame and Foundation

The Advanced Original goes well with the majority of the foundations, frames and adjustable bases sold on the market as long as they're firm enough to support its weight. If you intend to use a slat bed, the slat shouldn't be more than 3'' apart. Hope manufactures and sells its own sleep platforms.

The Hope Upholstered Foundation is made of Pine and Spruce solid wood. It can quickly and easily be assembled, and it can support a maximum weight of 750 pounds. It's fitted with plastic legs, which can be removed in order to convert the foundation to a box spring. Prices range from $339 for a Twin mattress to $499 for a California King Mattress.

The Universal Bed Frame provides a cheaper solution. It's an easy to assemble steel construct designed for all mattress sizes. It comes with nine legs, double-rail center support, 2.5'' reinforced glides (feet) and headboard brackets compatible with most headboards. It can carry up to 700 pounds. It's sold at $108.

The M555 Adjustable Bed Base includes 5 preset and 5 memory positions plus Dual Zone massage with multiple types, intensity and time setting. It comes with underbed LED lighting, a backlit remote control and dual charging ports on both sides of the bed.

The M555 is 15'' high and can support up to 850 pounds (850 pound * 2 for a Split King mattress). It's designed for Queen, King and Split King mattresses. Its prices are $1,650, $1,950 and $2,850 respectively. The base is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Hope has been operating on the American market for more than 30 years. It's main offices are placed in Texas, USA. This is also where it manufactures all its mattresses and related products.

Hope's mattresses, including the Advanced Original, are CertiPUR-US certified. This guarantees they don't contain ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants, formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals and any other substances which may risk human health or threaten the environment. The company is also strongly committed to lowering emission levels of volatile organic compounds in order to maintain high quality of indoor air.

Shipping & Delivery

The Advanced Original will reach your doorstep in up to 7 business days from the moment you completed your order. It's shipped packed, rolled and compressed in a box. You'll need to carry the box to the room where you plan to place the mattress, take the mattress out of the box and set it up. At this point in time, Hope doesn't include white glove delivery on its list of services. This may change in the future.

Shipping to any destination within the contiguous USA is for free. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada entails an additional nonrefundable fee, which changes from time to time. Returns & Warranty

The Advanced Original is sold with a 120 night trial and a break in period of 30 nights. Put differently, if you're not satisfied with the mattress, you can return it for a full refund (not including shipping costs to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada) 30 nights after you slept on it and no later than 120 nights.

Hopes gives a lifetime warranty to your newly purchased Advanced Original. The warranty applies only to the original buyer of the mattress, and it covers manufacturing defects and deterioration of the foam. It doesn't cover natural wear and tear, impressions on the surface of less than 1'' in depth, accidental damage (spills, cuts and burning marks) and damages resulting from neglect or improper treatment of the mattress, including putting it on an unsuitable foundation/frame. Moreover, the warranty doesn't extend to any damage caused by use other than home use and repairs done by a technician not authorized by Hope.
