The GhostBed Natural is an eco-friendly hybrid mattress made out of organic, natural materials that's perfect for average-weight sleepers who tend to change positions. While it is a tad bit pricey, the quality your getting for the cost more than justifies it, letting you sleep on a high-end green mattress that had little environmental impact and will keep you comfy and cool throughout the night.

Mattress Construction

The GhostBed Natural is a hybrid foam made of 5 layers of organic cotton, natural wool, Talalay latex, individually pocketed coils, and Dunlop latex. This combination creates a comfortable medium feel and a durable mattress that fits the average sleeper.

Cover: A layer of organic cotton that's luxurious and soft to the touch.

Layer 1: A layer of sustainable natural wool. Durable and great at dispersing your body heat. Also acts as a natural fire barrier.

Layer 2: A 2" layer of natural Talalay latex, which is known for its bouncy feel. This layer cradles your body without making you sink in too much.

Layer 3: An 8" layer of individually-wrapped reinforced coils, which further support you body and disperse your weight and body heat across the mattress for better pressure relief and cooling. This layer features a reinforced edge for better edge support.

Base: A 1" layer of Dunlop latex, which, thanks to its sturdiness and durability, provides ideal support and longevity to the mattress.

Feel

Due to the materials its constructed from and the rigidness of its coils, the GhostBed Natural has a medium feel and is quite a responsive. You'll feel like you're sleeping on top of your mattress rather than on it as long as you weigh less than 250 lbs. If you weigh more than that, you may feel like you're sinking into the mattress and hugged by it.

Pressure Relief

The GhostBed Natural's pressure relief is rather excellent. It contours well around your shoulders and hips, especially when sleeping on your side, and will keep your back aligned as long as you're not heavier than the average sleeper. If you weigh, say, more than 250 lbs., your spine may not properly align when you're on your side, as the mid parts of your body will sink in too much, and, while the pressure would be relieved off your joints, you may start to suffer from back pain in the long run. For heavier sleepers, there are better mattresses for back pain.

For an average sized sleeper, the mattress will feel great in pretty much any sleeping position.

Motion Isolation

The Ghostbed Natural has a thick layer of pocketed coils and is made from mostly soft and pliable materials, which are great for motion isolation. While it's not absolutely flawless in this regard, the Natural mattress still offers enough motion isolation for most couples to be perfectly satisfied with it.

Repositioning

You won't have much issue repositioning on the GhostBed Natural. The layers of latex and coils forming the majority of the mattress give it quite a bit of responsiveness, and even though it's a soft, medium-feel mattress, you'll never sink in too much into it for you to feel like you're moving through quicksand, which is the sensation that some soft, hugging mattresses can give you.

Edge Support

The reinforced edge of the GhostBed Natural give it wonderful edge support. No matter where or how you sleep on the mattress, even if you're laying close to its edges, you're probably not going to feel like you're falling off, even in the slightest. That's true, of course, for average sized sleepers, as heavy individuals may require even stronger edge support.

Heat Retention

As mentioned previously, the GhostBed Natural doesn't fully conform to your body, so it allows more of your body's surface area to breath. It's also specifically designed with heat dissipation in mind, as all its layers are highly breathable, especially its top layers of organic cotton and natural latex. If you sleep hot and suffer from night sweats, this mattress is sure to alleviate that to some degree.

Frame & Foundation

The GhostBed Natural will fit any standard frame or foundation, and works with box spring, slats and a standard base, along with an adjustable base.

If you lack a suitable foundation for the mattress, you can purchase one from the GhostBed site, and it'll ship alongside it. You have the following options:

• The "all-in-one" foundation — an all-metal bed frame and box spring in one. It's height is customizable and it costs $369-$758 (depending on its size) before any discounts.
• The adjustable base — this features wireless remote control, dual-side USB ports, 15 quiet massage modes and soft, glowing under-bed LED lights. It costs $1,399 before discounts.

Additional Details

The GhostBed Natural is designed from the ground up to have very low environmental impact. The mattress is entirely chemical- and toxin-free, and barely off-gasses due to its organic make, and so is a great fit for people with allergies and respiratory issues.

This mattress is also among the lowest-priced eco-friendly mattresses on the market, mainly due to GhostBed's ridiculously generous discounts. It's common to see this mattress being sold for around 40% less than its original price, which makes it almost as cheap as the economically-friendly Avocado Eco Organic.

Shipping & Delivery

GhostBed offers free shipping to the entirety of the contiguous US, and they mattress usually arrives between one to two weeks from date of purchase. They also offer White Glove Delivery for $279.

Once you’ve placed your order, GhostBed will ship your items via their delivery company, and you'll receive an email to confirm your order. Once the delivery team has received all your products from GhostBed, they will contact you to schedule the time for your delivery. If you ordered any other GhostBed products (pillows, sheets, protectors, etc.), those will ship directly to you via FedEx.

If you've opted for white glove delivery, upon the arrival of your GhostBed mattress, the delivery team will unbox and set up your mattress (and foundation, if you bought one). If need be, they'll also remove and dispose of your old mattress along with any packaging materials

Returns & Warranty

After purchasing the GhostBed Natural mattress, you have up to 101 nights to return the mattress should you decide it''s not the right fit for you. You may only issue a return after 30 days of trying it out, which is an industry standard since that's usually how long it takes to properly break in your mattress and adjust to its feel.

GhostBed delivers mattresses quickly, but because of this, orders cannot be changed or canceled once placed, so ensure that all the details you fill in with GhostBed are 100% accurate. If you ordered your GhostBed mattress through a third party vendor, then the return conditions are that of the third party vendor and not GhostBed. We therefore recommend you use our link and purchase directly from GhostBed and avoid any middlemen.

The GhostBed Natural mattress comes with a 25 year warranty. GhostBed will repair or replace any GhostBed Natural mattress for the original owner should it be defective due to faulty workmanship or structural defects. The warranty covers any visible and lasting indentation greater than one inch that didn't occur due to sag in the mattress' foundation, along with any physical flaw in the mattress that causes the latex to split or crack, despite normal usage and proper handling.

During the first 10 years of the mattress' life, GhostBed will provide a replacement mattress at the cost of only shipping and handling fees. After the 11th year and until the 25th year, the warranty only covers 50% of the total cost. In order to be eligible for the warranties there are certain conditions that must be met. As always, misuse and abuse void the warranty altogether, as does using the mattress without a suitable foundation.

An Up-Close Look at The GhostBed Natural

The Bottom Line

The GhostBed Natural surprised us. When a product is only made from natural and organic materials that were ethically sourced and have little harmful impact on the environment, you'd expect its design to have at least a few compromises. This is not the case for the GhostBed Natural. This is an overall fantastic mattress that we'd recommend the vast majority of people, and, should you purchase it, it would actually make a positive environmental impact. Even its price is affordable, and considering the quality of its materials, that's downright impressive.

If you like sleeping on all sides and have a somewhat average build, consider this a great option for you, even if the environment isn't you main concern. It's just that good.
