Brooklyn Bedding Titan Luxe Mattress Review

Last updated December 19, 2024

The Brooklyn Bedding Titan Luxe Hybrid was released in 2021. Like its predecessor, the Titan Firm Hybrid, it was designed for plus-size people. However, being made from an extra amount of contouring foam, it's softer than the Titan Firm and that makes it a good fit, not only for heavyweight, but also for average weight sleepers.

Mattress Construction

The Titan Luxe consists of six layers combining foam and sturdy pocketed coils. This hybrid structure enables the mattress to cradle the body and maximize comfort without compromising support.

The layers of the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Luxe mattress

Cover: The mattress' cover is padded with 1" of body-contouring gel-infused memory foam for pressure relief on contact. A cooling top panel made of Phase Changed Materials (PCM) can be added to the cover for an extra sum of $100. These materials emit heat and help regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer: 2'' of Titanflex poly foam and 1'' of adaptive and breathable Energex poly foam providing ample contouring.

Transition Layer: 1'' of medium density (3.5 PCF) memory foam assisting in alleviating pressure.

Support Layer: 8'' of thick (13.5 gauge) individually encased TitanCaliber coils providing the mattress with strong support and giving it bounciness.

Base Layer: 1" of high density (1.7+ PCF) poly foam supporting the coils as they compress and providing a solid base to the entire mattress.

Feel

The layers of foam in the mattress are highly responsive to the body giving it a pleasant melting sensation. The 8'' steel coils, on the other hand, provide the mattress with sufficient lift to prevent over-sinking making sure sleepers don't feel stuck.

Pressure Relief

A mattress' capacity to relieve pressure is affected by its materials and composition as well as sleepers' weight and position.

The Titan Luxe is designed for plus-size people, so lightweight sleepers, regardless of their preferred sleeping position, may find the mattress to be too firm for them. They may suffer from pain in the back, shoulders and neck as a result of insufficient pressure relief.

Average weight back sleepers will benefit from the firm support the Titan Luxe Provides. Side sleepers will get the pressure relief they need in the hips and shoulders thanks to the mattress' foam layers. Stomach sleepers will get adequate support in the lower abdomen and lumbar area and will, therefore, feel highly comfortable on the Titan Lux.

Heavyweight back sleepers will be properly supported thanks to the mattress' coils and dense foam in its base. They won't suffer from excessive sinking compared to other less firm mattresses.

XL side sleepers will experience a bit more sinking. Yet the mattress will generate enough lift to prevent them from being "swallowed" by it. In fact, this little sinking may assist in relieving pressure and relaxing the muscles.

Stomach sleepers whose weight exceeds 250 pounds will most likely need a firmer mattress. The Titan Luxe, as supporting as it may be, won't be able to prevent them from over-sinking. These sleepers should opt for the more solid Titan Firm Mattress.

Motion Isolation

The Titan Luxe scores high in its capacity to isolate motion. The large amount of foam in its cover, comfort and transition layers absorbs well sleepers' movements. In addition, the individually wrapped coils minimize the transfer of kinetic energy across the mattress. In light of that, it'll be accurate to say that you won't feel your partner during sleep unless he/she tends to move very aggressively at night.

Repositioning

Effective motion isolation usually comes at the expense of ease of movement. However, one should bear in mind that the Titan Luxe is designed for plus-size sleepers and is, therefore, bouncy enough to allow repositioning without too much effort despite the sinkage which may be caused by the foam layers.

Edge Support

The Titan Luxe's coils, apart from being long, are thick. These robust coils reinforce the perimeter preventing sagging even when it comes to sleepers who weigh more than 250 pounds. This enables sleepers to utilize the entire surface of the mattress with no need to move towards the center due to unstable edges. In addition, getting off bed requires relatively little effort.

Heat Retention

Being a hybrid mattress, the Titan Luxe dissipates heat quite well thanks to its coils which enables free flow of air and moisture wicking. Yet, if you tend to suffer from heat or if you live in a hot and humid climate, you should consider opting for the cooling top panel despite its extra cost. Its Phase Changed Materials significantly reduce heat retention.

Frame and Foundation

The Titan Luxe can be used with any type of foundation as long as it's firm enough. It also must provide minimal or no flex. You may choose to put your mattress on a spring box or on a slatted foundation. Take into account that the slats mustn't be more than 4'' apart.

Brooklyn Bedding puts at your disposal its own foundations characterized by critical center support. The Super Duty High Rise Platform is a tubular steel construct which can support up to 1,500 pounds of evenly distributed weight. It'll cost you $129 for a Twin size mattress. Its price reaches it zenith with $219 for the the California King mattress.

The Ascension Bi-Fold Foundation has the look and feel of a box spring. Its prices range from $229 for a Twin mattress to $329 for a California King Size.

The Ready to Assemble Foundation also offers the traditional look and feel of a box spring. It's easy to assemble and can be easily carried from one place to another within the house. For a Twin size mattress, you'll pay $249. This price climbs up all the way to $369 for a California King mattress.

The Titan Luxe is also compatible with most types of adjustable bases which can support more than 800 pounds. Brooklyn Bedding has two bases which perfectly fit the mattress.

The Ascension Luxe Adjustable Power Base comes with a wireless remote control with a built-in flashlight for use during nighttime and two USB charging ports. It's designed for Twin XL, Queen and Split King sizes. Its prices are $699, $799 and $1389 respectively.

The Ascension Ultra Adjustable Base offers all the features you'll find in the Ascension Luxe Adjustable Power Base plus Android and Apple App support and under bed LED lighting. The Ascension Ultra fits only a Queen size mattress. Its price is $1,349.
